ALAMEDA COUNTY HEALTH CARE
Connecting kids to coverage
Since 2013, we have partnered with Alameda County Social Services, the Oakland, Hayward, and San Leandro Unified School Districts, East Bay Agency for Children, and East Bay Innovations to develop no-wrong-door, one-stop opportunities for families to enroll in health coverage and other public benefits in safe, culturally responsive school district locations. Our goal is to maximize the number of children and families enrolled and retained in coverage, and to support families to connecting with other needed wellness and social service resources as they enroll.

Early evaluation results show that a school district-based approach to health coverage enrollment is effective in extending services to hard-to-reach uninsured populations, such as Latino families, families with mixed immigration statuses, and the long-term uninsured.
